Vehicles in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were notified by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Police state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.

An important political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
